Donkey-trekking ? What’s that ?

Donkey-trekking is about walking light, with a friendly donkey companion to carry your luggage and/or young children (minimum 3 years old). Equipped with pack-saddle and bags, your donkey will carry an average of 40 kg and walk 10 to 15 km a day with you. Before leaving, you’ll get plenty of useful advice for your trek and we’ll give you our amusing booklet on how best to handle your donkey. We’ll show you how to prepare the donkey for the day’s walk, and this is the best time to make friends with him or her. Then we’ll give you your itinerary which follows the marked hiking paths at L’Ardèche Plein Coeur.

 Seasons at Ânons des Sources

The Ânons des Sources Family, at an altitude of 500 m, is in area of springs, rivers and lakes. Our meadows are covered with cherry trees, you can appreciate their delicious fruits if you come in June.

Prunelle and her fans!

Furthermore, seeing the cherry trees blooming and the brooms yellow flowers all over the place
in April  is really marvellous

In May, all nature springs up again and all you need is let your donkey guide you and enjoy all these new colours around you.

In Summer  you will appreciate the coolness in the chestnuts, pines
and firs woods (and their delicious scents !) but also bathes in the rivers and lakes
 of our region.

In September, you will find delicious wild fruits like hazel nuts or blackberries on your way,  blackberry jam is especially sweet, and this thanks to the sun of the Ardeche.

The Autumn  is The Season of Chestnuts, used in panfuls, in soups. You will find these fruits on your way, but be quicker than your donkey, because he loves them too.

And last but not least : all the old stones of our area : farms, stopp hoff houses, castles, bridges, wells.....

An authentic past that survived religion wars : Indeed, Ardeche is partly of protestant religion and during your hiking trip you can come across catholic, but also protestant churches.
