A story of donkeys... and passion
For over 15 years, I've been sharing my life with nearly 30 donkeys. Some are real backpackers, others are young apprentices, and many are rescues. I educate them, rehabilitate them and give them back their confidence, to offer you unique travelling companions.
Shreck, Basile, Églantine, Azuphel, Casper, Capucine, Sable, Dromi, Sauvageon, Igrit, Isil, Ioda, Eden, Haïwa and Aubépine are looking forward to guiding you through the beautiful Cantal countryside.

Your region
The Monts du Cantal are Europe's largest volcano, a mountain range located in the heart of the Cantal department in the Auvergne region of France. This spectacular landscape is the result of an immense volcano that died out some 3 million years ago, leaving behind an impressive landscape of deep valleys and rounded peaks.
A grandiose and varied landscape
The Monts du Cantal are characterized by :
-
Emblematic peaks: Plomb du Cantal (1,855 m, the highest), Puy Mary (1,783 m, classified Grand Site de France) and Puy Griou (1,690 m).
-
Glacial valleys: carved out in a star shape around the heart of the massif, such as the Cère, Jordanne and Falgoux valleys.
-
Plateaux and estives: where the famous Salers cows, emblematic of the region, graze.
Unspoilt nature
The area is a paradise for nature lovers and hikers:
-
Hiking trails: the GR 400 circles the massif, allowing you to explore its varied landscapes, and the GR 465, the Cluniac path, runs from Murat to Conques.
-
Rich biodiversity: chamois, mouflons, marmots, birds of prey (buzzards, kites) and unique alpine and volcanic flora.
-
Rivers and waterfalls: such as the Faillitoux and Sailhant waterfalls and the Albepierre waterfalls trail.
An authentic terroir
The Monts du Cantal are also renowned for their heritage and gastronomy:
-
Villages with character: Salers, Murat, Vic-sur-Cère, with their stone houses and slate roofs.
-
A legendary cheese: Cantal, but also Salers and Bleu d'Auvergne...
-
Preserved traditions: transhumance of herds, livestock fairs, local crafts.
Ideal for adventure and relaxation
Whether you're looking for a hike with a donkey, a horseback ride, a nature treasure hunt or simply to recharge your batteries, the Monts du Cantal offer an exceptional setting, far removed from mass tourism.
